Spotlight on ChikSia
I am delighted to introduce the beautiful and multi-talented Anastasia Okoye, popularly known as ChikSia. She is a Nigerian-Thai fast-rising supermodel based in Thailand. ChikSia is working towards exploring Europe and will be sharing her plans as she adds music and acting to her career portfolio.
Tell us how your modelling & music career started and what inspired you?
It started when I saw Naomi Campbell on TV, I admired her poise and confidence. She inspired me to believe in myself and my natural creative abilities. I discovered that I have a passion not only for modelling but for music and acting. Watching some of the greatest singers especially Beyonce stirred great drive in me that I have faithfully nurtured and projected in all that I do to this day. When I was much younger, I would participate and win some of the local mand national singing competitions in Thailand.
What were the challenges you encountered?
Like any profession, there is always something you struggle with before you find your place and progress. The modelling industry is not an easy venture, some think it's about makeup, photoshoots and struts down the runway. There is a considerable amount of pain behind the glamour, I struggled in my early days, working with experienced models was a huge challenge and as a bi-racial model, it took me a while to find my place and myself. It is very easy to consider yourself inferior in a circle full of extremely beautiful women. A very positive and strong bond with my family kept me grounded to my visions and promote my own uniqueness. What has been your greatest accomplishment as an artist and a model
One of my most exciting projects was working with PolyCat in ''Pretty'' with over 23M views on YouTube. I have worked with Shiseido, Outfitter, Poem Official and Mitsubishi. I have also worked with great Thai artist like Toni Rakkaen, Lux Model, I have also been featured in The Fact Thailand and Drag Race Season 2.
Making a song is not an easy profession to venture into How do you deal with the complexity of creating and producing music?
I am grateful to God for giving my natural gift to sing, also for my family who constantly supports me to pursue my dreams. I am blessed to have released an album independently.
How do you encourage aspiring creative person wants to travel down a similar lane? My advice is to be confident and not doubt yourself. It will be helpful to understand that the journey may not always be straightforward, patience, humility and eagerness to learn from those who have more experience than you will extremely helpful.
Please, can you share your latest Project?
That will be the China World Fashion 2019 in October. This is one of the most exciting fashion shows I have ever been a part of. I have exciting projects coming up in Europe in 2020 and will be happy to share those in good time.
What is your favourite place to visit? I would love to visit London. My cousins have shared so much about Covent Garden, Sky Gardens, Victoria and Albert Museum and Harrods. Do you have a personal or a favourite quote?
You strive faster and better with purpose when your family is behind you.
